Highest Fusion Fuel D-D BurnAugust 13, 2019
Another good way to compare the private fusion efforts is to show what fraction of fusion fuel—in this case deuterium—will burn in fusion reactions in the best plasma conditions published by each company. This means we are comparing only deuterium to deuterium fusion since most all companies experiment with D-D reactions so this comparison keeps it “apples to apples”. By this measure, LPPFusion has achieved the best results, 1,200 times higher burn fraction than EMC2 and 2,000 times higher than TAE— formerly Tri-Alpha. To get the conditions we need for net energy, LPPFusion’s burn fraction has to go up by about 2,000 times.
