Fusion Experts Urge “Much Higher Funding” for LPPFusion

“The attractiveness of a low power, low capital cost, and a ‘clean’ fusion power reactor system is worthy of continuing the research at a much higher funding level.” That is the key recommendation of an “Evaluation of LPPFusion Dense Plasma Focus Research”, a new...

Biden Infrastructure Plan Needs Fusion

Biden Infrastructure Plan Needs Fusion

President Biden’s infrastructure plan includes the goal of getting to no net carbon emission by 2050. The Fusion Industry Association (which LPPFusion is a member of) has proposed a way of making that goal practical—and even well exceeding it. The FIA is proposing a...

I think that the “Focus Fusion” approach of Lawrenceville Plasma Physics, Inc. should be funded as the science behind it is very interesting. Even if this approach does not succeed in producing fusion energy, the research will produce valuable technology in the near term.

review committee of four senior scientists, led by the former head of the US government fusion program, concluded that “LPPFusion has made an impressive effort to address DPF physics and engineering issues given the limited number of personnel involved,” but that the “program is vastly underfunded and merits a much higher funding level.”

Review Committee

The experimental program that LPP plans to carry out has great potential to show how the plasma focus can be used to generate fusion energy and to demonstrate the feasibility of hydrogen-boron fusion. Read more…
